There was an update for the Sony Reader (desktop) software, but I couldn't see anything for the T1.

If this is a firmware update, what version is it?

All I was able to find was

Reader™ for PC
Release Date 10/31/2011
Version 1.1.02.10150
File Size 40.44 MB

It popped up earlier this week when I plugged my T1 in and opened the new Reader library software. I clicked to download it.... 102mb!! I have a very slow wifi connection and it timed out. Oh well, don't want to be an early adopter anyway....

I guess he is talking about the last weeks update. 1.0.03.11140 still isn't available.

I downloaded and installed the update via the PC software and for some reason it isn't the version described in the forum link above. It says 1.0.03.11140 and mine is 1.0.02.10280. The update was described as: To enable select e-book files to successfully download.

Is that an update from a while ago or do they have the numbers wrong?

The update to 1.0.02.10280 (To enable select e-book files to successfully download) came out last week, so it’s fairly recent, but it isn’t the one referred to in the link in post #5.

There was a firmware update about two weeks ago that is v1.0.02. The one to fix the touch-screen freeze and other similar issues is to be v1.0.03.

Oh thought the 1.0.03.11140 was out, got excited to try it out. Oh well hopefully will be released soon.

How do you update firmware on the T1, do you have to do it through the Sony Reader software, or can you download and apply the firmware update separately?

Log,

I had troubles getting the firmware to install because Reader for PC is still sluggish. But essentially once Reader for PC is up and running and sees your reader you can go to Edit->Check for Updates and it will pull down the firmware upgrade for it. Let it download and close Reader for PC (which is what hung it up the time I was trying to install). Make sure your reader is attached because on the readers screen once it starts flashing it will have a Updating meter and will restart the reader. Boom you are flashed to the newer firmware.

Thanks, luvduchovny.

Is that the only way to get the update. Use calibre, and though I downloaded the reader software I haven't installed it because I didn't want to run any risk of interference between the two.

I just got my mom's Christmas present today so have been playing with it. Really liking it so far, we may need another of these in the house, lol. Anyways, I did the update through the Reader software. I have a 650 and have both the reader software and calibre on my system. If you decide to install it, just make sure you go to preferences and select not to open automatically when you connect your reader. This way, you only need to have it open when you choose to and don't accidentally end up having them both open at the same time.
