I ordered kindle NT in UK. The problem is I just changed my number and I placed an order with the old number. The item is already dispatched.
Will courier see my new number (or do they only have printed version of my order so with my old phone)? I just updated my phone number on my account. How do they deliver? What if nobody is home? Do they call you and say when you can expect them (and will they call the right number)? Now I'm just paranoid about getting my kindle ![]() It's first time I'm buying from amazon so I have no idea how they work. Last edited by Noughty; 11-18-2011 at 05:21 AM. |

Ok, the delivery come today so no problems. They didn't call. Fortunately I was home. Now trying out my kindle.
The screen looks very white. So maybe I am lucky. Will try to compare to other's pictures. How to eject Kindle from Windows 7? I don't see safely remove. I also don't see kindle in my computer. I'd think that it is already ejected, but the screen is still on charging and I cannot use kindle. Is it safe to just unplug kindle? Last edited by Noughty; 11-18-2011 at 05:12 AM. |

Is the screen in charging mode or do you see the main menu? If the latter, you can just unplug it.

It's in charging mode. I used eject on calibre. I don't see the device anywhere on my computer.
Also, can't you see how much kindle already charged? The charging screen looks static. How to know if it charged enough (of course you'll know when it is completed, but what if I want to charge it just to some extent) I also don't see kindle in task manager > services. I want to read ![]() Last edited by Noughty; 11-18-2011 at 05:17 AM. |

And it's not shown as a drive on "computer" on your desk top? I don't eject using calibre, so am not sure about this, but perhaps you have to close the calibre program?

It's not visible anywhere.
Closed calibre but no change. I googled and it's a known issue with windows 7 and eject of kindle. But it says to just eject from my computer, but it's not visible in my computer. |

Well, I also unplugged. Kindle doesn't feel traumatized
![]() I am jsut playing with it now. And I noticed that you cannot change screen rotation in home, only in a book. I mean I read a book in landscape and went to home screen and I cannot change it to portrait without going into a book and changing there. Seems strange. I also can't connect it to my wireless so will have to go and look for some free wireless to set it up. |

When you order something from amazon.co.uk, you'll only be called if: a) You have ordered something very large that is being sent via a specialist courier - something the size of a fridge for example and they need to arrange delivery b) Something goes wrong with your delivery and the carrier that they have shipped it with requests the phone number. Some forms of delivery (e.g. with the regular post - Royal Mail) don't require that the sender put the recipient's phone number on the package(s). In the absolute worst case scenario, your order should be returned to Amazon and the price you paid should be refunded if it can't be delivered. |

I connected again and it ejected fine.
I guess, you cannot eject from calibre, it messes it up. |

Ejecting from Calibre is fine, and at that point it is safe to remove. If you simply close Calibre, the Kindle is still connected and shows in Windows. Right click and select eject, or use the safe removal in the notification area of the taskbar.
