Kindle 3 delivery time

Hi folks,

After much soul-searching, hand-wringing, see-sawing, hemming, hawing and a little bit of searching around, I've decided to take the plunge and plonk down for a Kindle 3 Wifi. (Basically came down to being the cheapest big-name reader, and easier integration with Instapaper...)

But I do need to get it from the USA to India. Sooo... some advice on this front would very much be appreciated!

I have a friend flying out from Amherst, MA this Monday (13th). If I placed an order on Amazon tonight, would it be delivered to her address before then?

Alternately, would it make more sense for me to beg and plead and get her to pick it up from a big-box retailer before she leaves?

Thanks in advance!

Mine was ordered with 2-day shipping, shipped immediately and came a day earlier than I expected.

Don't rely on other people's shipping time to make such a decision. Doesn't Amazon do international shipping? Is eBay an option for you?

I was in my local Best Buy this past weekend and they had stacks of Kindles (and nooks and sonys also) ready to be bought.... Maybe at a BestBuy near Amherst they have them also.

Amazon shipping is typically fast when an item is in stock and you can get one or two day shipping. BUT, in your case there is too much riding on it to trust that nothing would go wrong. I would absolutely ask your friend to buy your Kindle at a retail outlet.

Hope you enjoy your new Kindle!

The International kindle is sold out. I dont think they ship to India either. Ship a US one to your friend and tell them to ship it to you.

When they had them in stock, I ordered a K3 with express shipping to Canada and it arrived in under 24 hours. (two of them, actually)

If your friend can't track one down locally at a BestBuy AND IF Amazon has them in stock and ready to ship, you might spring for overnight shipping to get one to him ASAP.

Thanks a million, folks.

I've asked her to pick one up from a retailer - I reckon a thank-you meal in India would end up cheaper than plumping for overnight shipping from Amazon

If you're outside North America or the UK Amazon is still responding to international Kindle orders with a shipping delay of up to three months.....

I tried ordering one from Amazon to Ontario, Canada about 10 days ago and the message I got was that it wouldn't arrive until mid-February!

I went the eBay route and got it next day from a reputable seller...did spend about $10 more, but the wife has one under the tree now in a couple of weeks
