SIGIL 2.4.2 "Warning: Files exist in epub that are not listed in the manifest ... Details: OEBPS/Misc/XHd_eBk_Cnr_389c.epub" Two different validators agree that I should "activate XHd_eBk_Cnr_389c.epub in Manifest or Delete it". Listing in manifest would be simple, but I want to delete it. It is an intruder the size of 10MB !! . I have to delete it but where is it? There is nothing in the Sigil folder*'Misc'. So I spent hours searching the whole book, including OEBPS content, metadata etc, but I cannot find that file in my epub anywhere. So how can I delete a file I cannot find? By its file name, I can see it is an earlier version of my eBook embed in a later version of my eBook. How it got in there I do not know ! But how can I delete a file I cannot see it file name? |

It should be down in the Misc section. Figure out what it IS and what you want to DO with it (delete is an option) |

What you could also try is to rename the epub file. Change the .epub extension to .zip. (an epub file is just a zip file) Open it with a zip reader and then find the offending file/folder and delete it there. Once done, change the extension back to .epub and rerun your Sigil checks. |

Sigil used to delete unmanifested files on the next save. I seem to recall that changing because people didn't like it. I could be wrong though. But even if I am wrong, it wouldn't hurt anything to save a new copy of the epub (using Sigil's Save As) and see if the problem takes care of itself. This sort of thing typically happens when one makes the mistake of digging around in Sigil's working directory while it has an epub open. That's something I would almost always discourage. But if the above suggestion does not work, that might actually be the simplest way to find and delete the embedded epub. Out of curiosity: how are you determining it's 10Mb in size if you can't locate it? |

The plugin posted is probably the best bet overall, but if you do want a manual way to do it, looking through the zip works just fine (and may be a good learning experience). | |
