How to change line gaps

So I use a Kindle Oasis with updated firmware, and I have a book bought and paid for from Amazon in AZW3 format. The odd thing is that the gaps between lines of texts is double what it should be.
I've tried converting it many times an changing line height in the settings but nothing seems to have any effect at all. Has anyone any ideas how to change line height? Currently I'm only getting 18 lines per screen!
I should add that the controls in the Kindle are all set to min margin (which is a joke) and smallest line height.

Load the KF8 eBook into calibre and use the editor to have a look at the CSS. Remove all instances of line-height.

If you have the book in calibre, you can try editing it in the ebook-editor. Look for a line-height entry in a html, body or p class. I have found quite a few authors putting line-height: 1.4 or higher to give more pages in the book and hence a higher payout from Kindle Unlimited.

But they get paid by the page. One of the reasons I prefer Kobo's payment by reading time.

OK it's way better than it was. The first 2 lines of each paragraph have a 2 line gap, but the rest are fine so for now I can live with that. Many thanks.
