Can't directly select Book description text
It used to be in version 6.28 that I could use standard mouse operations to selected text in the book description window for pasting elsewhere.

Then I upgraded to 7.16, Now I can copy ALL the details, but attempting to select a section of the details with a mouse does nothing. If I open the book details in a separate window I can select text, but not in the main calibre window.

Is there some new setting I am missing?

W10, I just started to the Left of the first letter and it worked. It does seem to need some precision (and the boundary to the other metadata is not exactly obvious)

What OS?

Works for me on Windows 10.

But I prefer to use the Edit metadata->Copy metadata option and deal with it either where I paste it, or in a text editor before I paste it - this works when the Book details panel is hidden.

The Copy and Paste shortcuts are customised - defaults are None.

It works for me. I notice that my cursor remains a pointer rather than turn into the I-beam.

It turns out that if you have the user interface set to "system default" then there is no highlighting of the selected text. It was actually selected but there was no indication of that.
