sharing ebook by email: HTML book description is send as plain text?
Hi,
When I create a new book entry, I use the comment field for writing my own book description, often with pictures and referal to external links on other web sites. These comments are written in HTML, but when sharing the book by email, it sends plain text. Is this a setting I need to change, and in that case, where? |

Now that is shame...
![]() The alternative of only using straight text limits the endless possibilities to write comments on the book, with clickable links, fonts, bold, cursive etc... If not allready on the wish list (I'm sure I'm not the only one would appreciate this feature), can this be done, and can the dev team put this on the request list? Many thanks in advance ![]() |

Plain Text
![]() Less chance of a tracking dot or other malware exploits being embedded in email. BTW many older Text email readers DO display LINKS in underscored blue |

Surely you trust your own emails. And no one *else* sending malware needs to use calibre to send out the emails. ![]() Quote:

![]() I refuse to use HTML only email because it forces the recipient to OPEN THEMSELVES to potential Malware from any source. I got a Compuserve account back in the early 80's. To date, only 5 infestations and one of those was deployed by the A/V examination. To borrow a Harry otter line: "Constant vigilance" (and follow safer practices, not layer on mor security suites) |

IMO HTML emails are an abomination (they are a security/privacy issue). As such, I dont have any interest in implementing support for sending HTML email.
Note that there is no HTML markup in comments when sending plain text email. The comments are converted to plain text. And pretty much any decent email client should be able to display clickable links in plain text email. That said I wont refuse a patch that adds support for them, it's just not something I care to work on myself. |
