Hi, asking for help with my Kindle Oasis (9th Generation)
Hi, I just the change of look in the actualization of the firmware of the Kindle Oasis, 9th Generation that I own and I hate it!!
Does anyone know a way to change the look back? I prefer lines to big icons and right now I'm dealing with a lot, a lot of things in my personal life and this is adding a lot of stress to my head. It might be silly but is kind of like close to the last drop you know?? Thanks, I hope someone can help me!! Be well, Monica |

You cannot revert the change, so my advice is to learn to like the changes. Overall, I find it an improvement.

You can change it to List View in the Sort options.

- Show only in Collections view - Show favorites in Library - Show all in Library The ‘legacy’ behavior is the second of these options. The new Collection view is sort of like what it used to be ‘Collection sort’: you see the collections listed, followed by a ‘collection’ named Uncollected, which should have all of the books which are not in a collection (subject to the current Filter settings). Thanks, is not working as I want it to work. It shows the list but lists the collections aside from the list of books.
I just wish it looked as before the update. Thank you, be well!! Quote:

They basically ruined it and there is no way to go back to how it was. Using "Library" view and setting it to "List" view will give text only, no icons, with 5 titles per page. Using "Library" view and setting it to "Grid" view will show book covers but will show 6 books per page. Using "Home" view just gives a mess. Your only option is really to choose whichever ignorant messed up view is less annoying and hope they give us the option to revert in a future unwanted update. Sorry there isn't a better answer for you. Good luck.

I've head that the updated UI is connected to your Amazon account and not your serial. I've seen posts where they deregistered their device and registered using another Amazon account reverted the UI changes. It's a really extreme solution, but if you're the type to only side load content, it's an option. Only downside is you can never connect to the internet again.

I hate it also, MonicaOP.
I have had Kindles back to the keyboard generations and have been satisfied with their operations but this latest update to Oasis is awful and user un-friendly. Why they didn't let you view the e-book titles in text view as well as by book covers is beyond me. It seemed such a simple thing to implement. |

They're great with the simple stuff, but they're pretty much useless when it comes to anything more advanced. |

To state the obvious, Amazon cannot accommodate everyone’s preferences. As I see it, the changes were made for the following reasons:
- to improve UI consistency between Kindle and the Kindle apps for iOS, Android/Fire - to unwind some weirdness with the previous UI (e.g. what is difference between Collection view and Collections sort?) - to replace long menus with tiny text (so long they needed to scroll, making some things difficult to discover) with option panels showing logical relationships between options - improve Library navigation so swiping was not always necessary (swiping too infrequently opened an item unintentionally): now you have scroll bar with draggable position indicator and page up/down buttons (you can still swipe if you like). - for Special Offers Kindles, they have removed the annoying, space-consuming banner ads that used to show at the bottom of Library pages. The only place ads appear is on the Lock Screen. - there are no longer the ubiquitous and distracting Kindle Store links in menus. The main thing people here seem to complain about is that you can only 4 or 5 items in List view; somehow seeing 8 or 9 items is inherently ‘better’ because it shows more stuff. But I would wager that on can now navigate much more efficiently through Library items using the scroll bar and page buttons than before with swipes (and the occasional accidental opening of books). At least it feels that way to me. I would however vote for a List view option that did away with the thumbnails and allowed a larger type size for the Title/author (without truncating too much) and allowing a couple more items per page. |

Another one here who hates it with a passion. I sideload more than half my books and use kindle unlimited and prime. The new home & library are so messy. I have text view only, which will not work in Home now.
I find it hangs when side loading. I might have to eject the device several times. I wish they did something useful like a page-down function. Really annoying when you have 52 collections. |

What I don't understand is why I'm seeing the collected books showing in the list? I've attached a picture of what I'm seeing. Notice the collection entitled "Spenser". All of the books in the Spenser series are in that collection, but they are also showing outside of the collection. What is the point of even having the collection if I have to wade through all of my books in order to find the next one I want to read??

It makes one wonder if those who designed this new update ever read books on the Oasis. I have read a couple books a week for several years and it is much more difficult to navigate the lists and collections with this update. They first deleted the "back" button and now this mess.
