Opening a book in the Viewer

Why is it necessary to use PgDn (on Windows) to open a book in the Viewer? Is there something which makes it impossible to provide a "next page" pointer at the right margin?

Hover your mouse at the edge: Presto Pointer (it is real small because of all the gripes) in the center.
BTW spacebar also does Down

Running on Windows 10, Calibre version 5.8.1. When I open an e-book (AZW3 or EPUB, I haven't tried other formats) for the first time I am shown the cover. There is no "Presto Pointer" at the right margin. If I open the action menu (right-click) the "Forward" arrow does nothing. The only way I have found so far to get into the book is to used the "Page Down" key, or use "Go to". "Go to" "Book start" takes one to the cover again, and to location "1" does the same and "2" takes one to an early page, but not always the first. If there is a TOC you can use that. On the first page after the Cover there is a pointer to the left, which takes one to the cover again, and after visiting it a few times the "forward" action will work at times, but I have not figured out when it will and when it won't. In short, at least on my PC, it is a mess, and not even a predictable mess!

Look at the cover display, you will see there is no right margin. Hence no pointer in the right margin. Nothing inconsistent about it. All non full screen pages will have margins and you can click them. Though I dont know why you find it so necessary to click a margin to turn pages. Use the mouse wheel or trackpad scroll, or keyboard keys or touch gestures.
