Doubt about Calibre directory location

Hi

I have just done a backup of my Calibre setup and i see that i have actually two folders:

1. %userprofile%\documents\Calibre, that contains my books and two files: "metadata.db" and "metadata_db_prefs_backup.json"

2. %userprofile%\Calibre Library, that contains only the two files i mentioned before.

What is the use of this last folder? I see the last modification done to the two files in it are from march and november 2020.

I need it?

How long have you been using Calibre?
I ask, because the name Calibre Library is the Normal Install name.

but Metadata.db and metadata_db_prefs_backup.json make BOTH a Valid Libraries.
Do either have Author (names) folders? That would be the one you have been using

Could not say precisely. No the only one with the Author names folder is the first one, and is the one i also use when i manually interact with the books i edit etc. This is also the one that opens when i click on 'Path: Click to open' in Calibre.

No idea what is the second one, the "Calibre Library" folder. Never used that.

I tried to delete the second folder and open Calibre, seems there is no difference. Calibre works just fine, it seems.

EDIT: So strange tho, in calibre if i go to 'Calibre' -> 'Calibre Library' i see this https://i.postimg.cc/xdhc2Hbr/Cattura.jpg probably this was there before also but i found out just now.

In 'Calibre' i have also the option 'Remove library', that if selected let me to delete 'Calibre Library'.

So, how Calibre works with all my books etc. if the library that was selected was different from this one?

I discovered this only when i performed my backup.

You might want to think about moving your library OUT from your documents folder. Win10 gets mighty possessive of stuff in there, which can potentially cause problems for you when you use Calibre.
