SOS. I have damaged my kobo!

Hello everyone. Sorry if this is not the right thread, but I need help with my ebook. I have a kobo aura hd2 v2. Today I tried to downgrade from 3.25 to 3.19 and when I restarted my ebook it had a reduced screen... and it doesn't react to the touch screen. I can't access any function. Now I can't give permission to access from the pc and I can't try to reinstall the firmware. I have tried restarting by holding down the power button and nothing. Can anyone help me?

Are you sure you meant 3.25 and 3.19, and not 4.25 and 4.19??

I have managed to repair it. I did a manual factory reset and fixed it. Thanks for your answers!

Yet another person who can say thanks to Kobo for including the recovery partition on their ereaders.

You might want to take note of the firmware version that your Aura H2O ed 2 V2 factory reset to and remember it as the minimum version that will support the hardware.

For the record, what probably happened is that installing the 3.19.x firmware over 4.25.x didn't replace something important. While you can usually safely downgrade a version or two, there are versions that cannot be crossed. And the wider the difference between the two versions, the less likely it is to work. For a case like this, you need to do a factory reset and do a manual install rather than letting the device do the update.

That's a very good thing, sure.
One thing I dream of would be an internal read-only memory (ROM) separated from the eMMC/MMC which could restore the firmware if the device is really broken.
This would be very useful, especially on eMMCs...

It might seem rather obvious that the Aura H2O Ed 2 v2 and it's mark 7 hardware would not be supported by a firmware revision issued in December, 2015 a few years before the first mark 7 devices was released. As far as I am aware, the first firmware downloads that support mark 7 hardware were released in early 2018.

I didn't pay any attention to what device was mentioned. That's probably the real reason. They were probably lucky that it wouldn't have installed a different kernel or boot image so it still had a chance to book.

As firmware 3.19 was mentioned, it is probably because they liked the old tiled home screen. Something I completely understand, but, I like most of the other improvements to much.
