Desperate! Calibre no longer sends books to my kindle

Previously, I was able to send ebooks to my kindle with no problem. Then suddenly, the sends failed. I've tried disabling firewall, signing up for a gmx account, checking that the addresses were on my amazon approved sender list to no avail. I've even tried restoring the computer to the point where calibre worked and nothing has helped.

I won't post the entire error message, but this seems to be why it failed

send: AUTH <censored>
reply: '535 Authentication credentials invalid\r\n'
reply: retcode (535); Msg: Authentication credentials invalid

Sending failed...

How do I fix this? Please help!

I'm not sure if this matters, but my OS is Windows 8

This seems to say quite clearly that your account info for your email provider is not correct.

But, why would it suddenly be incorrect when it has worked without problem before? The password and the email account are correct. The other info is what calibre itself put in. The amazon info is correct as well.

Maybe because you are using gmail and gmail no longer support SMTP properly. See the second note here: http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq....-using-calibre

I'm using a gmx account that is exclusively for calibre. It now works intermittently. I've not used gmail at all for calibre.

@M98 - when it doesn't work try ping http://www.gmx.com/

The GMX site has a history over recent months of intermittently disappearing from random domain name servers. Usually comes back within 2-3 days! You could try using a different domain name server.

And when it happens, associated companies 1&1 and United Internet also disappear.
