Can Calibre download SERIES Metadata?

Pretty much every book I read is part of a Series and I'm looking for a way for that data to be populated automatically. As of right now, it doesn't seem to download any Series info.

I looked through the MetaData Source options and Amazon and Overdirve both have Series checked, and both show series info on their website, but Calibre doesn't seem to download it at all.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or some other way to get Calibre to Automatically download the Series info from the internet?

It depends on the metadata source. For instance, amazon only recently started displaying series info and even then for only a subset of its books. In fact the next release of calibre has modifications to the amazon metadata download plugin that read that info, when available.

I found something that mentioned the GoodReads plugin so I used that and it worked perfectly.

For as long as I've used calibre, maybe a couple years, whenever amazon lists the series in parenthesis it is moved to the title field.

What would be very useful is if Calibre could automatically move the series from the title field to the series field. I thought update 2.62 would do this, though there was no change whatsoever to the way series were handled when adding metadata. If they were pulled from the title on amazon, they would stay in the title in Calibre.

Kovid, this would be a very time saving move, if it's feasible and you're not overwhelmed with labor already.

There is no way to know when text in parentheses is a series, unless it follows a recognizable pattern, such as Book x of y. Or when the series is identified separetely and repeated in the title. In those cases calibre will detect and remove the series from the title.
