Converting Single Chapter?

I have a bunch of books that I would like to convert to a text file. I already have my entire library converted to txt, but that also includes all the copyright information at the top, the title, a section about how much they love their significant other, etc. I want to get (mainly) the first chapter of a book without all the other stuff.

Convert, as you found, is about the book

What is a 'Chapter' (boundary)? Some books cram the whole book into the fewest pieces (files) possible.

Open the book in the editor.
Establish and select whatever is the 'chapter' .
Export that.

Then convert/strip that as a seperate task

In 90% (or more) of my epubs the first chapter is properly in it's first chapter section. I was able to export the chapter 1 html section using editor, but I am looking to just get the plaintext of that using server tools.

If they're epubs then maybe you could use [GUI Plugin] EpubSplit (← click) to extract the first chapter:

split off the front matter, throw it away,
split off first chapter and convert to txt.

It says "GUI plugin" does that mean it won't work as a CLI plugin? I need to do this to a collection of over 60K :P so I don't think I am going to be able to do them all by hand.

I suspect it can't be used from the console as it requires book specific user interaction. But ask in the thread, JimmXinu is here most days and he's always more than helpful. Maybe you could hack it to be usable at the console and do a fixed task.
