Ermine upgrade and writing on the eInk screen

Now that I've had my PE for about a week, and of course really enjoying it, I haveto say that the only thing tht would make me upgrade to ermine would be if there was a marked improvement in the eInk screen response via the stylus and the calibration and the speed. I do a lot of marking up, and the PE is perfect, however, I do find myself having to re-calibrate the iInk screen. It's as if the calibration shifts. And I noticed longer delays in image making after I touch the page with the stylus.
So my question is, does the Ermine upgrade significantly improve the eInk stylus writing experience?
I searched for this topic in the forums, but I couldn't really find the answer. Most upgrade topics appear to focus on the tablet screen, so that's why I am asking this as a new topic...
Thanks,
heers,
Tunney

When you calibrate do you hold the stylus in a natural writing position or are you pointing it at a 90 degree angle? Touching the calibration points how you normally write may help.

I have upgraded (didn't use eink before I updated) and find the eink a little on the poor side. Calibration has not seemed to shift but there is a lag when writing. In my opinion it is a tad better with the upgrade.

I also find if I write small it tends to do poorly. If I attempt to fill the lines on the page in journal or that size writing it works fairly well.

The penabled technology is fancy but I'm not impressed with the result. It is however nice that your hand does not trigger trash when you touch the screen :-)

I did notice a marked poorer response on the tablet side touch response. Much nicer on the original system. To bad they didn't do an app for that :-) (adjusting the response).

Unfortunately that's the nature of e-ink. The "pixels" have to physically move around to the dark side to show the mark, which is why you get the screen flash when turning pages in a book and why the writing lags.

I can't comment on the PE not having one but the upgrade improved the writing on the e-ink screen of my EE and I thought at the time I upgraded the response was faster but that was a long time ago when the update was first available - now I'm used to it and it does what I want without problems.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone!
I took the plunge, upgraded to Ermine, and now my PE totally rocks! Everything just feels a lot smoother! And the eInk screen does seem to be better, but not in a massive way--
Thanks to all the members who responded!! I hope to discover some things about this amazing device that will be of help to others.
Cheers,
Tunney
