Avoiding the dreaded update
Well now it is sounding like the modification of renaming the otacerts.zip file may not stop the nook from updating... I have turned my wifi off for the time being until we see what happens, but here is an interesting thread on the subject. Just wanted to give you all a heads up to be careful until we know what is going on.

I did see that post. Not sure what to make of it. I disabled updates on December 17th and I'm still on 1.0.0. Never turn off WiFi. Don't know why this one would be any different.
I do have my apps, data, and settings backed up. ![]() Last edited by SCION; 01-26-2011 at 11:44 PM. |

I actually had this happen roughly an hour after I rooted the first time. I really don't know what happened, but I was already at 1.0.1, so there's not much rhyme or reason there. It seems completely random and there's nothing much we can do about it.
Just one of the risks of rooting I suppose. If it does revert again, it will take me less than ten minutes to re-root, and all of my Nookcolor apps are saved to my Appbrain account. Annoying for sure, but not the end of the world. The benefits of rooting are still worth it. |

Oh heck yeah! And I am sure the truth will come out in next few days. And if it just unrooted it, no big deal. But I would hate it to be all messed up so just to be on the safe side, I am keeping my wifi off for a few days.
Scion, that is a good point! If you never updated automatically to 1.0.1 that does say something so maybe the others were a fluke. |
