Avoiding firmware updates? No 3G blocking...

Hi,

I've had my KDXG for a week only, running 2.5.5 in Argentina, and the 3G browser is unblcked, I can access all sites I want. I've read that 2.5.6 blocks sites other than wikipedia from the browser - does the Kindle ask the user before upgrading, or are these upgrades pushed compulsivey over the air? If the latter, is there any way to avoid it?

I've also have KDXG, in Chile (on travel in Argentina). Before that, I manually updated my former KDX to 2.5.3 because there is no automatic upgrade in these devices. So, if this is true as long as you don't upgrade it will be fine.
