From what little exposure they get here, it seems strange that they are called hearings. Noone seems to be hearing. Seems to be all about talking and posturing. Mind you, the "Inquiries" and "Select Committees" we have here aren't that different, so I'm not really in a position to comment.

Excellent book; one of my favourites (and one that stays permanently on by Cybook and Kindle -- and the paper version from the 80's stays on the bookshelfs).
