There are multiple ways to install custom dictionaries. Personally I use the most flexible (but most effort required) method described in detail by surquizu here and added to by myself and taos in posts #15,#16,#18 of this thread following problems identified in 4.8.10956. However, I've just tried the 2 easier methods mentioned earlier in this thread (by those having problems since the firmware upgrade) to install: - a second custom Eng-Eng dictionary - by adding a dicthtml-en-en.zip file to the .kobo/dict directory
- a custom French-German translation dictionary - by adding a dicthtml-fr-de.zip file to the .kobo/dict directory
In each case I needed to add an extra row in the Kobo database's Dictionary table. I'm not sure how you originally did your custom dictionary installs, but I'm wondering whether the necessary entries in this table were removed during your firmware upgrade.
As you can see below, both of these custom dictionaries are successfully looking up the selected word.
I have also attached a screenshot of the relevant rows (the first two) in the Dictionary table to show what a successful entry looks like.

This is what I wanted, and I found sqlitespy and downloaded it. But I can't find any tutorial on how to create new lines (I need 2) or copy lines and modify them.
EDIT: And I have no idea how to find the dictionary sizes in bytes for the devices. I noted elsewhere that while my 17 dictionaries weigh 112 Mb on my computer (whether on the PC or the devices), they weigh much less as seen in the Kobo parameters).
