And I find that although it was the first written in the series, it is last in internal chronology.

It also wasn't very engaging, and a little too Andre Norton-esque for me. I expect the rest to be better. For an athor's first novel it wasn't bad.

Next up: The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch. I resisted buying this when it came out (it's not as if I'm short of good books to read!), and now I have it at a very good price, and I'm really looking forward to reading it.
