So it looks like you send an epub, but it sends a kepub, the books in the library of calibre stays epub.
So you don't use the conversion part of calibre and then try to send the kepub that is made to the device. (that was what i was doing by mistake)
So you install with plugins the kobotouchextended plugin, you disable the kobotouch plugin, then restart calibre, then highlight the epub you want to send as kepub, choose where you want to place it,just like epubs, and in the background the plugin makes a kepub of it and send that instead of the epub to your device. (and in the options of the extended put off [uncheck], hyphenation.)

If you want to start sending epubs again to the reader, disable the kobotouchextended plugin,re-enable the kobotouch plugin, restart Calibre and then it sends the epubs again.

With this plugin, you don't have kepubs stored in your Calibre system and it doesn't rebuild your existing epubs.

I just have gotten around to trying the Kobo Touch Extended Plugin. I did the following
1. Disconnected the GloHD
2. Installed the Kobo Touch Extended Plugin
3. Went to Preferences->... and disabled the Kobo Touch 2.1.7 by David Forrester
4. Closed and re-opened Calibre
5. Connected the GloHD

Calibre did not recognize the device. So, I disconnected the device, went back to Preferences->Plugins->...and disabled "Kobo Reader Device Interface" as well. Closed and Opened Calibre. Reconnected GloHD - still not recognized.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

BTW - I also had a battery problem like the one described. Out of the blue the battery started to run down in a few days rather than a few weeks. Deleted a .mobi book that seemed oddly formatted and a couple of other non .kepub books, gave it a good overnight charge - and all seems better today.
