The extended driver definitely works with the H2O, and all other Kobo ereaders starting with the Touch. I can only think it was a configuration problem. A calibre debug would be needed to see what happened.

I've to reset and phisically remove the kepub converted with the extended and the device start to work normally. If i convert the ePub with the KePub Output and send the kepub to the device without the extended all work fine. I've this problem with an older version of Kobo, maybe 3.08 i don't remember, i never tried again with the newest version of firmware. |

Then it is like sending the book to the reader and in the background it does it's work. So it looks like you send an epub, but it sends a kepub, the books in the library of calibre stays epub. So you don't use the conversion part of calibre and then try to send the kepub that is made to the device. (that was what i was doing by mistake) So you install with plugins the kobotouchextended plugin, you disable the kobotouch plugin, then restart calibre, then highlight the epub you want to send as kepub, choose where you want to place it,just like epubs, and in the background the plugin makes a kepub of it and send that instead of the epub to your device. (and in the options of the extended put off [uncheck], hyphenation.) If you want to start sending epubs again to the reader, disable the kobotouchextended plugin,re-enable the kobotouch plugin, restart Calibre and then it sends the epubs again. With this plugin, you don't have kepubs stored in your Calibre system and it doesn't rebuild your existing epubs. (with thanks to @Davidfor and many others who helped me with this) |

i think that i will continue to use the Kepub output and send normally the kepub without the extended... so i have the choice to send epub, kepub and so on to the device without enabled and disabled ecc... ![]() |

In practice you will not send two formats and change every time between epub and kepub, you choose the format you like. So you put the extended on and use it, or use the default. The enable or disable is only to be sure that it will be okay. But you said,it crashes every time at a certain percentage. Then it is possible that it happens because both plugins are enabled. I only share the knowledge that others teached me so they don't have to step in every time,it is for the individual person if they want to use it. You can also make a batch and rename every title to .kepub.epub then the device handle it as kepub and you don't have to convert or enable plugin's or not. You can make it as difficult or as easy if you want, but handle files twice every time, or every now and then enable or disable a plugin looks like the same amount of time for me..and the plugin does it in the backgrond, you have to do it all yourself ecc.. |

I'm going to have to ask in the Calibre area, as I use the convert books to kepub, but when I go to load using specific format kepub is not in the list.

It is not necessary to switch the driver, Nick. You can use only the KoboTouchExtended plugin. If you want kepubs to be transferred to your device just check the box for extended kobo features in the driver configuration menu, if you want epubs just uncheck the box. This works without restarting Calibre.

![]() I had it once that while it was unchecked,it keeps sending kepubs which i discovered 3 weeks later when I wanted to read the books on holiday on a tablet that didn't understand it,and no computer nearby ![]() So to be sure, I switch.. for now I think.. it's a feeling, that with the latest firmware kepub is faster then epub, I don't use the extended stats and things like that, just want fast pageturns. Thank you for the thumbnail, makes it very clear. Last edited by Nick_1964; 06-09-2015 at 02:16 PM. |

Since I am trying to avoid having to do a device reset (and remove device from the molded cover!), I think that I'll stick to using epubs and my folder-copying. Maybe I'll play around with the older Glo when I have the chance and see how that goes.
Unless page turn time gets to be an issue, which it isn't now. The info is useful though, and I thank you all! |
