Nor am I scoffing. I'm suggesting an approach that Fox News listeners should applaud.

I think we should do everything we can to convince the publishers to drop the stupid idea and I am doing exactly that myself. But as indicated above, drm is not killing anyone (the way cars did and the reason Ralph Nader made a name for himself) and the market at this point is very limited.

Yes we should do everything we can to convince publishers to remove it, but it's very clear -- particularly with some of the recent moves -- that the major publishers and sales channels are going to fight it to the very end, even though they've seen what happened in the software, music and video industries. They are going to continue to fight against ebooks to their dying gasp and while they are doing that new publishers that embrace the technology and provide it appropriately to the consumers will rise. Support those that do.
