With the mobile product lifecycle is moving twice as fast as computers at their peak ten years ago, mobile publishing will soon be a requirement of doing business. Hype aside, there are really good reasons why you should be looking at your mobile publishing strategy… now. It shames me to say that Mobileread is still far from being mobile-friendly. Everyone who had his device already crash while trying to download our bloated frontpage knows what I am talking about. Take my word for it, either we'll solve this problem very soon, or we're going to fire our current Web admin (that would be I). [via Threadwatch] |

update 1: As we've guessed, this is just another lame hoax. Thanks to Kent for pointing it out to us! We're almost stifling a yawn this time around, but yet more supposedly leaked photos have popped up of the Treo 700. It all seems a little dubious, since the photos depict the new Treo with a similar form factor as the Treo 650, with one striking difference: it runs on Windows Mobile. Check out the two photos over at PalmAddicts. Don't kiss Palm OS goodbye yet, as this is not the first Treo 700-related rumor that turned out to be false (like the rumor that Palm's smartphone would be powered with Palm Cobalt, only days before PalmSource officially announced that Palm Cobalt would be a shot in the dark). |

Andy, who joined the company only in December 2004, seemed overall confident that in future mobile broadband devices will taking advantage of faster networks, leaving enough room for multiple players to create new value. He is certain that Palm holds the innovative leadership in the smartphone industry with the Treo 650, which continues to get rave reviews. He acknowledged that the handheld market is in decline, partly because of the cannibalizing effect of the Treo. Regarding the all-in-one LifeDrive device, while it was initially targeted for the business and consumer market (Powerpoint presentation vs. playing MP3s), Palm now finds it to be more a consumer gadget. In future, Palm will invest more in R&D to increase the velocity and quality of products coming out, and it will build on the "extraordinary opportunities" of the smartphone business.
