Bloaty Adobe Acrobat to integrate bloaty Flash

As if there're not enough reasons to despise Adobe Acrobat: it's bloated, it's slow, it uses a proprietary format incompatible with most other readers, it uses DRM, heck, it even spies on you! Now Nicholas found one more reason for us to shudder at the worst abomination ever dared calling itself an e-book reader: Adobe plans to merge Adobe Acrobat and Macromedia Flash into a so-called "universal client". Let's hope they'll provide a universal uninstaller with it.

Good idea actually, just I dont want to ahve to create or download both mixed together. swf is fine by itself actually. Its much better than PDF in appropriate applications. Oh well, the Adobe/Macromedia god has spoken.

Heh. Well, if you use Flash, then it's perhaps OK for you to use a combined reader. But I haven't even installed Flash, and for the 0.01% of websites that henceforth don't work, I don't give a damn. However, I do use Adobe Reader and I'd hate being forced to run an app twice as big (and Reader isn't exactly small) just to give some stock analysts a reason to believe in the Adobe-Macromedia merger.

Hehhe. I feel your pain there TadW. I like Flash for what it brings, not so much that it was versatile. Macromedia has done a much better job with SWF, and personally, I believe had the merger not happened, SWF would easily trump PDF given a few enhancements.
