Lightbulb Palm's Hawkins points to 'secret' product line

Pretty sharp editorial at The Register: the "secret" product line that Jeff Hawkins has been talking about is... the LifeDrive!

Let's look at the evidence. For a start, Hawkins refers to his company as PalmOne, which suggests the interview was conducted some time ago, before the firm became Palm again. Newspaper feature deadlines being what they are, it couldn't be entirely beyond the bounds of possibility that the PBJ talked to Hawkins before the LifeDrive was announced, when quite clearly he wouldn't be able to say too much about it.

Yeah, much ado something that's already known... Still hoping that palm has a follow-up device in the works...

Too bad, that Palm did not buy out the bankrupt Tapwave, that could have added a fourth line to their products portfolio.

Another area, Palm should tap is the low end phone line, something akin to what gspda (Groupsense) has done... if say, they could make something like the g88 and price it against mid-level phones from Nokia ($200-250), I think it could be a million seller, what would you buy a Nokia 6230 or a full-featured Palm?

I think the Register article is a stroke of brilliance! Provide a convincing argument for everyone that the brand new futuristic technology is as simple as a LifeDrive line. We all start to believe it and publish it, and then PalmOne is in the position of having to save face by letting us know what they really have in mind. It'll flush them right out. A stroke of genius, I say!

gg-

thats a pretty attractive price point. somehow I doubt that palm can get that low on a phone. They barely get that low on a pda alone.
