Uninstall Before Updating? (Windows XP)

I'm updating calibre. Should I uninstall the version I have installed before installing the update? I'm running Windows XP and calibre 0.7.18.

Sorry if this a stupid question. The Windows download page implies that you don't need to uninstall before updating this version, but I want to be sure.

Unless you currently have a really old version, you can install a newer version without uninstalling.

The Calibre website suggests if you have anything older than 6.17 you should uninstall the older version

Thanks. Installing 0.7.19 over 0.7.18 doesn't appear to have caused any problems, and all my preferences seem to have been preserved.

I've been installing the newer versions without uninstalling since, well, I guess 0.6.17. Never had any problem. So, I believe I can safely say it's safe.
