Freebie Griffin case for iPhone 4 arrives
I've just had a ring on my doorbell and the postman handed me a mysterious package. I opened it to find... my freebie Griffin "gel" case for my iPhone 4. I'd completely forgotten about the free case offer for the iPhone. Seems like a very nice case, anyway!

I just got around to ordering mine. Is your case the perforated one?

I forget what the name of it was; it's a translucent black "gel" plastic, with a "3D" diamond pattern somehow embedded in the material itself. It's very attractive. It cover the back and sides of the phone but leaves the front free.

Cool. Glad to hear you like yours.
I picked the perforated one, in case it helps when charging. My 4 heats up when charging. Does yours? I figured I'd try the perforated. I already bought a case meanwhile -- a cheapo one that protects the back, in case I wanna sell my unlocked iPhone on return to the U.S. |

I can't say that I've noticed it heating up, no!

Now Apple needs to start giving away free cases for their defective iPod touch 4Gs.

It's a hot topic at MacRumors Forums and has affected quite a few people. Most have been exchanging them; with some people making several exchanges. I bought a touch the other day and sure enough, it has two leaks along the edge. I will be returning it for another; and will keep exchanging until I get one that doesn't leak. |

Hmm. Mine might be a dud.
I'll wait till the hubbub dies down and go to an Apple store and see what they say if I plug it in and it heats up with them around. The phones are new where I am, and people are still waiting for theirs. I wanna be able to get a replacement quickly if needed. It works fine otherwise. No death-grip experiences so far. When I went to buy a cheapo case, the clerk suggested a perforated one, because she said the 4 heated up. I didn't think much of her comment, and didn't find out till I started using it that it actually heated up. It's not on fire, lol, but definitely warm-to-hot. |

I am trying to decide what sort of belt holster/pouch to get for my iphone4. It has a protective hard cover on it already, so the pouch needs to be wide enough to suit the added width of the protective case.

I'm bought mine in Asia, where I am for months. There are loads of cheap cases here, in every imaginable style. Unless I want a name-brand one, I can find cases for iPhone and Touch for about 4 or 5 bucks USD. I just bought a better one for my iPhone today -- a smoke-colored rubbery one, with a woven-leather appearance -- it cost less than $5. Several people were in line because the sales guy was applying a screen protector for a customer. I left money and didn't wait for change, which would've amounted to 25 cents US. |
