K3 keyboard button markings worn down....already!?!?
I just noticed that a a little bit of the silk screen on a few of my buttons has partially worn off already - not a lot but enough that I noticed it. Especially on the down arrow of the 4-way (or is it 5-way?) navigation button. It's a bit worrisome I've only had mine for a few weeks, and with only 1-2 hours use per day this is happening...
Has anyone else see this on their K3? How do previous Kindles' keys fare over time (K1 and K2)? It's too bad that the K3 button legends appear to only be silk screened on the keys and are not embossed with the letter/symbol. ![]() |

You might want to contact kindle support if its really bad.......use the "contact us" button at the bottom of the page.
Let us know what they say. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200127470 |

no, I wouldn't consider it to be 'really bad'....yet - but I can easily see in a year's time (or less) some of the button markings being unreadable or even gone.
I was really just curious if anyone else has noticed this, and was wondering if it's been a problem on other generations of the Kindle.... |

There were several reports of this posted on Kindleboards, although there tends to be a fair amount of hand-wringing over there on many topics.
![]() In most, if not all, cases it appears to be related to continuous use of one's fingernail edge to press the buttons/keys, as opposed to using the fingertip: http://www.kindleboards.com/index.ph...c,35362.0.html Last edited by Skydog; 09-14-2010 at 03:25 PM. |

yeah my 5way arrows were wearing after only a week, but I did use my nail edge to press. Since I stopped doing that it has not gotten worse, the rest seem fine

I notice the 'I' key appears to be developing a gap already. I do hope these legends aren't just silk screened: if so that is a cost reduction too far...
