first view opening, and shrunken photos

1: the .mobi file opens for the first time to the preface page, not the cover. I want it to open on the first time to the cover page, as it should.

2: the second photo, placed with an html file featuring this <img class="imgstyle" alt="" height="100%" src="photo.jpg"/> is considerably smaller than the cover photo. Both photos in original format are exactly the same size. Both are 480wx768h. how do I make this photo override what I presume is the mobi’s internal margin requirements so that it will display in full SCALING size as the cover does.

EXTH record type 116 contains the position (4-byte offset in file) at which to open when first opened.

I'm sure you're right, but a more normal way to set this is to add the appropriate item to the "Guide" section of the OPF file.

Add a Guide item of type "other.ms-firstpage" whose value is a link to the point in the book at which you want it to open.

Which will populate the Exth 116 record when the mobi is created.
"Normal" is pretty subjective, but I'll concede that your way is definitely much easier.

it turns out my trouble was based on kindlepc and not the file itself. kindle first opens to the front cover, then on all openings after that it appears to go straight to the TOC. thanks for your help though i now know more than i ever wanted about this =)

anyone care to take a crack at my second question please?
