Problems with news feeds and Kindle 2

I am using the latest version of Calibre (0.7.16) on a Mac and with a Kindle 2. I have Calibre set to download 2 news feeds every day. I thought that Calibre was supposed to automatically put them on my Kindle when I connected it to the computer. If I go in and try to send them to the device, Calibre shows it's been done but the news feeds don't show up on the Kindle. HELP! Am I doing something wrong?

P.S. Now it seems that when I try to send the news feeds to the Kindle, it deletes the previous day. Arrgh!
