Calibre Keeps crashing

This problem has been consistent through all 7.x versions I've upgraded to.
I'm using a PC with 2 Gigs ram, windows 7 ultimate.
I attempt load a directory containing approx 10,000 pdf files. Calibre crashes anywhere after 20-35% are loaded into the db. This problem has occurred when I try other large directories of ebooks.

Any suggestions?

WTF are you doing with 10,000 PDF files? Are you seriously going to read ALL of them?

Load them in smaller batches, or turn off the pdf metadata reader plugin.
