Amazon Warehouse Deals page is now listing refurbished Kindles for $169.99 and DX for $299.99.

Both models are second generation (global) white models.

Why would anyone want to buy a refurbished Kindle 2 for $169 when you can buy the Kindle 3 for $139???

if you are a uk residant this seems a good deal. i like the larger screen as my eyesight is not so good and the sony prs 505 when i have the text enlarged doesnt have enough lines on the page. It becomes quite tiring turning pages every couple of seconds

My sister ordered the refurbished 3G US version for $109 weeks ago -- and she hasn't gotten it yet. She keeps getting e-mails from Amazon pushing back the ship date, and Thursday she got an e-mail saying that they may not be able to fulfill the order so she could cancel if she wanted, but must let them know one way or the other. She opted to stay on the list. She's getting pretty upset about it, though, because she ordered a cover and some books when they started showing her Kindle under the "Manage My Kindle" page. She doesn't have the additional $80 to order the new 3G one, and she particularly wants 3G. I told her she ought to call Amazon and see if she can talk them into substituting this $169 one that apparently IS available, since she has been awaiting the other one in good faith for so long.

I, on the other hand, ordered the $109 refurb when it first became available, and got it within a week. It's in perfect condition, and I have no regrets.

Maybe some prefer the number keys and page-turn buttons on K2 vs. K3? I'm not sure I'd like those on the K3.
