Hello, I live in Chiang Rai where books are sometimes hard to find.
Going to look at readers in Australia (my country of origin) next week and need to learn a lot first.

Good to have your company, Sceadugenga. Hope you find what you need in Australia. Don't forget to take into account -- as well as the reader itself -- the availability of ebooks in Chiang Rai. Ebook stores linked to devices tend to have geographical restrictions on the sale of many titles. It's as well, perhaps, to consider a reader that can cope with ePub open source format. You then have much wider choice and you can use library software like Calibre for conversion (if the ebook isn't shackled by DRM). Best wishes. Neil

Thanks every one and thanks for the advice Neil. I have several hundred books from free sites on my computer but the formats are varied, most are now stored in Word docs.
I like historical fiction, scifi, military history, easy reading. I travel a lot so I like the idea of an iPad so I can watch movies as well but the readers get the nod for the ease on old eyes and the battery length.

Have you downloaded the free Calibre library software, Scead? It was developed by a member here, Kovid Goyal, and many of us swear by it. Not only does it let you file and catalogue your books, but it will make auto-conversions for you from one format to others. Cheers. Neil

Thanks Neil, yes I found calibre this week, it was recommended by another member on ThaiVisa.com, the big Thai expat forum.
I'm trying to work out how to place the books in alphabetical order by author but the help section isn't exactly dummy friendly.
I love the format conversion, Adobe Acrobat and I don't get along. :-(
