505 to 600

OK, this is probably a really stupid question, but I can't work it out for myself and I know that everybody else here is really clever

I have a 505 and am expecting to take delivery of a 600 shortly. I have all my books (mainly epub's, but a few lrf's and pdf's as well) on a 2gb SD card and have moved them to this using Calibre.

When my 600 turns up, can I just take the SD card out of the 505 and put it in the 600 and everything will be there, or do I need to do something else?

No laughing please!

I did the migration from 505 to 600 too, and the books I had (ePub, lrf, pdf) did not need any further manipulation (unless you are into the font-changing thing...)

The Sony readers check whether or not a memory card is inserted. If so and it is powered up, the reader builds up / modifies its internal database to adjust entries according to the available memory (internal and memory cards).

You didn't say whether your books are DRM'ed or not. If they are, I would be surprised if you could simply transfer them on SD card.

Ah, good point. No DRM on any of them. I should have made that clear.

Yep, it's already been made clear, but you'll be fine with the books on an SD card.

You could move the files to SD even with DRM. Maybe not with the library program, but with a file browser. But you could then run into issues on the reader opening the files.
But whatever, I don't like DRM either and try to have as little DRM content as possible.

OK, my 600 arrived today and, after the infuriating wait while charging it for the first time, I just inserted the SD card from my 505.

It took about 5-10 minutes to load it up initially, but all seems absolutely fine.

Many thanks to those of you who responded.

Yep, charging when you just unpacked your new toy....
I was actually more than surprised when I saw that the ipad was fully charged. I mean I really couldn't believe it....
