Since the last reboot, my (softrooted) Nook Wi-Fi shows an odd symbol on the status bar at the top (to the left of the Wi-Fi and airplane mode icons) which I've never seen there before and which is not documented in the manual. It looks like a pictogram of a Nook being shaken.
Anyone any idea what the heck this might be?! |

Alright, according to this overview of Android status icons, it means vibration mode is enabled. Eh?!
![]() Now, of course there is no vibration hardware, and no reason for one to be there. Any idea how this may have been enabled, and how I can disable it? If I were to do a "hard" reset (pressing the power button for 20+ seconds), do any settings get lost? If so, which ones, and is it advised to unregister the Nook first and re-register after? - Update: Did so, no effect. Last edited by curio; 07-15-2010 at 03:41 PM. |

Solved!
In the Android settings database, "mode_ringer" was set to 1 but defaults to 2. After various other things I tried, this (plus a reset) made the icon disappear.
