well hp will be beaten to the market by a flexible/rollable display from another company. i saw these sheets at SID and came away unimpressed. this is still way back in the lab and not ready for anything close to production. At least sony actually showed a working rollable display. there are a couple others as well who have working rollable displays getting ready to market. this is far from ready

"Readius" demonstrated just what a large gulf there is between a technology demonstration and bringing a practical device to market.

actually tech wasnt Polymervision's issue. They had produced several beta runs (a thousand-ish devices total)and were ready for full production- the last beta run was literally fully sellable stock.
Polymer Vison actually ran into a bit of funding trouble when it turned out a Major investor was involved in a Ponzi/Pyramid scheme. This led to the inability to attract more funding because ownership was in doubt. The bankruptcy changed all of that. Wistron is now fully backing them and they continued to make improvements along the way while everything was in limbo. They have kept their team intact and are looking forward to rolling a device out in the next 6-8 months. It wont be what you think of as the readius since that is essentially nearly 3 year old tech. It will be a sort of Readius 2.0 http://www.electronicsweekly.com/Art...er-display.htm I actually got to sit down and speak with Edzer Huitema recently and they are really putting things in place again. He even brought an original readius that i got to "play" with. Im really looking forward to the new device |

You know what would have been really awesome? NOT seeing the tech. And HP just releasing a WebOS tablet using it, totally by surprise. Now everyone will watch for it to show up in every HP announcement, and if it doesn't, wondering if v2.0 will use it.

It seems that HP is throwing, well not everything but certainly a lot at the new screen technologies:
