something similar to Shutter Island?
I read shutter island before the movie, and the book just blew me away. It was very well written and the ending really surprised me.
Can somebody recommend any other books like this one. I mean not the same author but some story that will keep you guessing and then end in a complete surprise. Thanks. |

If you have access to a Library Overdrive system check there. It is available on ours.

It's not public domain, if that's the question. The Toronto library has approximately zero Agatha Christie in e-book format. But, they are adding more titles every couple of weeks it seems so there is hope. A good deal of the Christie novels are available around the $5 mark from Amazon and Kobo, depending on delivery charges. I am reading, with great pleasure at the moment, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd in a HarperCollins Kobo edition.

I tried our library's Overdrive site, and found 53 AC books in epub.

Ira Levin's A Kiss Before Dying has some great twists. The movie versions tried, but there was no way to, uhm, screw with your mind in the way the book did. You'll know what I mean when you read it.
![]() Years ago, I read a serial killer novel called The Ultimate Game that had a major twist at the end. However, while the overall effect of the twist was really neat, I came away frustrated. There are twists that make readers gasp, and there are twists that make them say "Oh come on." Your mileage may vary, of course. |
