Problem Loading iSiloX Files on Handera Cards
Dear iSiloX Community--- especially Handera users,
I have problems loading iSiloX-files onto either cards on my Handera 330. When I load iSiloX files OVER existing files onto either card-- the results are jumbled nonsense files-- see the attached examples. It doesn't matter if the files I load are exactly the same as already on the card. BUT if I first ERASE the file from the card-- then the load is perfectly successful. I can successfully load and "over"-load iSiloX files into the INTERNAL memory-- the problem is loading to the cards. Since the HE330 runs on OS3.5.3-- I can't use the "iSilo Install" OR the Palm Desktop "Install to Card" HotSync conduits. [I haven't yet tried the beta OS4.1 for HE330 released by a beta tester after Handera's End Of Life announcement which will probably workd with both these conduits.] I load iSiloX files using BlueSync or P-Install-- there no problems loading non-iSiloX files to the cards using either of these methods-- only iSiloX files become jumbled. Any ideas? Thanks, Marty |

Marty:
Was there a reason you posted this twice besides giving two examples as attachments? If that was the only case, please edit one of them to remove the text and instead use something like "another example of the problem." Problem is when you post two identical queries for help, you'll get responses on both messages and the discussion becomes somewhat disconnected...users in the future may only see one or the other post! As for your issue, I ran iSiloX on my HE330 using the same techniques as you described, and did not encounter those issues. I don't have the Handera any longer, so I can't go play with it...but it must be a conflict somewhere with something! Hopefully there is a current HE330 user lurking here that can give you some better help! Cheers, Gary |

Gary,
Thanks for the reply-- I'd be happy to send my .ixl file to someone for analysis so they could figure out what's going wrong. Any takers? Marty ------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. I edited the other message [which was mistakenly posted] as you suggested. I would have deleted it but I couldn't figure out how per the forum "rules" Marty |

On preliminary examination, the file definitely looks corrupt. What method are you using to copy the files to the card?

I get the same result using PInstall or BlueSync to load iSiloX files onto the cards.
With BlueSync: iSiloX is set to save converted files to TUZ\BlueSync\CF-Card\Palm\Programs\iSilo. Then I set the BlueSync hotsync conduit for "desktop overwrites handheld". This works beatifully if I have first erased the files from my HE330. With PIstall: I browse PInstall to the BlueSync folder noted above and set the "expansion card install directory" to "/PALM/Programs/iSilo" . Thanks for your reply, Marty |

It really looks like some corruption issue with writing to the card. Either your card is faulty, the interface from the HandEra to the card is faulty, or the software you are using to transfer the files is faulty.

Thanks for all the comments. Mystery solved!
Pinstall was the problem as suggested by a respondent to my post on the Yahoo TRG / HandEra User's Group. Once I changed to earlier Pinstall version 3.3, I got no more jumbled file loads of iSilo file loads. I had been using BlueSync and Pinstall interchangeably to install stuff to my HE's cards and Pinstall v4.5 was at fault, not BlueSync. So now I'm back in business. Thanks again to all. I'll separately post my problem of losing the BlueSync conduit on my HOME PC as well as BlueSync missing from the Windows "Add Remove/Programs" list! Marty |
