Random reset in middle of book

I'm enjoying the increased portability of the PRS300 but there is an annoying issue I have noted lately - I'll be happily reading and I press to advance the page and the screen goes blank. I press to advance the page again - as I have the font set to large, so it isn't that unusual on a short page to get what appears to be a blank page, but is actually just the bottom of the page you were reading. But then it comes back to the 'Reader' page as if you have done a reset (I don't see this otherwise as I use the slider at the top and never power it fully off via the menu).

It then comes back with a history about 2 books ago, so I have to recall where I was in the current book.

I'm trying to work out whether it is only in this book it has been doing it, I guess I will have to wait and find out. The current book is an EPUB that has no DRM - is there something in the book that is causing it?

I don't remember my PRS505 ever doing this.

It is possibly bad code in the ePub which is causing the reboot. Did you get this ebook from a retailer or did you make the ePub yourself?

You can try to convert the file to LRF then see if it reboots where the ePub was rebooting.

It sounds like the coding in the book that is causing your problem. You may also want to try another book to confirm this.

I think I'll try the conversion to LRF and see what happens - they are *cough* released EPUBS but I have had EPUBS ok from the same retailer. I have other books in the series so I'll see if they do it too.

I tried converting to LRF and I read the remainder of the book in LRF. It reset itself twice again during about 4 hours of reading last night.

I'm going to keep an eye on it - maybe it was a dodgy book (after all that it was a bit stereotype horror - you could tell what was going to happen, it was if they had taken the standard horror movie script).

I did like the option I tried with the conversion to minimise the margins to 1.0 point though rather than the default of 5.0 - it filled the screen nicely.

I had the same problems with a few custom epubs that I converted from LIT format, they looked ugly as sin and kept resetting in the same manner. In the end I converted to RTF in word and read this way. Still ugly but a lot more readable.
