				New(ish) nook owner says hi.

Hello. I've been alternating between my Nook and tree shaving type books for about 6 weeks. Liking the Ebook reader quite a bit.

Lol - tree shaving book, what a 'cute' expression for a pBook. At least that's the way I read it : tree shaving = page |

Good to have your company, Glitch. Here's hoping you'll soon find -- as many of us have -- that ebooks beat treebooks hands down. Cheers. Neil

Hi glitch and welcome to MobileRead. I've had my Sony eBook Reader for over two years and read 65 books on the thing whereas I've only read one or two pBooks in that same period.

Hi Glitch. Last weekend I was in Fargo, ND at Barnes & Noble and I spent some time looking at the Nook. I really liked the e-ink display and the feel of it. I might be tempted if it was supported here in Canada. But alas, at the moment it would be orphaned up here. Is the Nook all you thought it would be when you bought it? ~jim

So Books are made from tree shavings. And So Far I have enjoyed my Nook. I'm still working through a bunch of Ebooks I downloaded off of Project gutenberg. The only problem I had was a lock up of the device with a Downloaded PDF magazine, But that was fixed by not opening that particular PDF after I rebooted the nook. I think It was a problem of a complex color PDF. I haven't tried it since the latest software update so It may have been fixed or it may have just been a random chance thing. It was more an experiment to see what worked and didn't work than a need to read that particular magazine. Battery life seems great so far and while page turns are slower than what I would do with a normal book, they don't seem horribly slow to me. The big test will be next trip home to visit my family. Thanks for the welcome folks. Last edited by glitch; 05-04-2010 at 04:14 PM. |

			Welcome,

I too am a new Nook owner and am glad to see more here. My personal motivation to switch to an e-reader was to reclaim the square footage I have dedicated to my collection of "shaved-tree" books. Since I buy books at release dates, I have a significant number of hardcover books. Moving to ebooks will help me gain control of my space utilization. Duncan |
