Need help regarding Kindle DX (US Wireless)

Hi All,

Recently, my friend gave me a Kindle DX (U.S. Wireless) to me but currently I live outside US.

The kindle is registered under my friend account. My question is:

1. Do I need to deregister my friend account in order to read kindle magazine purchased by my account ?

2. If so, Are there any ways to deregister my friend account on kindle ?

3. If not, Any suggestion to use the kindle under my friend account without ask him to purchase book for me ?

Many thanks,

YES

He needs to deregister it on his "Manage Your Kindle" page on the Amazon website.

3. If not, Any suggestion to use the kindle under my friend account without ask him to purchase book for me ? NO

Thanks to your answer

If I understand correctly, if my friend deregister kindle serial no# from his amazon account. Then I register it to my amazon account. Everything will work fine even my friend's account still registered on kindle ?

And to deregister my friend's account on kindle, there is no other way to do except fly to US and deregister it ?

Thanks,

Nope you don't understand correctly. Your friend has to deregister the kindle he gave to you in his account and then you can register the so "unregistered" kindle in your account.

Thats a nice feature amazon set up for their costumers cause if your kindle i.e. ever got stolen you have at least the full control that it is useless for the thieves when it comes to online features by amazon.

What I mean is, If my friend and I deregister/register kindle in his and my amazon account successfully. Kindle will work fine even it still register to my friend account or not ? (Because I live in non US country so I can't deregister account on kindle)

Your friend has to deregister the Kindle from his Amazon account.

Then you have to register the Kindle on your Amazon account.

A Kindle can only be registered to 1 Amazon account.
