PRS-300 Disppointed with library book formatting.

hi everyone,

I've recently had wonderful experiences downloading library books from my local library. The selection is growing and with the advent of the ipad it will continue to do so.

My problem is that the most recent book I downloaded - "Buying In" by Rob Walker - clearly stated on the opening pages that it was foratted for viewing on a 1024x768 screen.

This is really frustrating. I've got to bump the font to medium to be able to read it (or rotate the view,but that's a lot of page turns), and the document isn't re-flowed at all. It doesn't occupy the whole screen, and each page of the book is 3 pages on the reader, with the third being mostly blank except for one or two lines.

Because it is a DRM library book, I cannot reformat or reflow the document with Caliber. Is there any way to fix any of this? It's so sad that the format doesn't get displayed on the screen in a cohesive way - that it does away with page numbers from the book and just reflows the whole book, numbering the pages for the number of turns on my reader.

Any help appreciated.

Sounds like the document you have is a PDF which is one of the worst formats to read on a 5" or 6" screen. Unfortunately the largest number of ebooks for most libraries is PDF. When you bump the font to medium it is reflowing the text which unforunately will take one PDF page and spread it over 2 or 3 pages on your Reader. There is nothing you can do except remover the DRM, crop the margins or shift to a different format but I would not feel right doing that as it is a Library ebook that you are reading for free.

If you library offers it check on the availability of ePub. They are much nicer to read versus PDF.

I was so ready to tell you how I KNEW I had downloaded an e-pub and not a PDF, that I am very careful... and then I checked my download and lo! and behold! It is a PDF.
