Format questions for Aluratek Libre

Hi again

Some questions about finding the best format for the Aluratek Libre I got tonight. If I cannot resolve them, I may exchange it for a Sony Pocket even though it's more expensive...

1) Mobi which was natively mobi e.g. multiformat books from Fictionwise look great and allow the font to be justified. No complaints.

2) However, mobi which was converted to mobi from HTML (e.g. from liberated secure eReader cleaned up to proper HTML) looks terrible. It seems to be removing ALL the line breaks! Why? Why is it not looking like a proper mobipocket as it does on my Kindle and other devices? Any fix?

3) That said, searching out the original HTML and loading it seems to make it look normal again. But this is much more labour intensive as Calibre stores everything in archives and I have to extract them and sometimes fiddle with the file name (e.g. some are HTML, some are XHTML and I don't know why). I would prefer to be able to load the mobipocket, but it does not seem to be displaying properly, as I said.

4) epub there seems to be no command to justify the text. Is this a Firmware issue? Should I be upgrading from the Firmware it came with?

5) Gutenberg, Manybooks, Feedbooks, here. Best format to download? I want it to look nice with proper line breaks and ability to justify text (cannot stand ragged edges!)

So...best format to use? Any way to solve my line break issue on HTML which has been converted to mobi? I am not clear on why these don't display like a proper file.

This might not cure all that you are concerned with, but have you tried setting
Calibre's output format preferences to the "Jetbook 5-inch" output display format?

Luck;

Hi Ken. Have not tried that because I don't want to mess up the setting for the Kindle which is my main device.

Did some more playing last night. Mobi I convert myself still looks terrible, but epub is working properly now and is fully justified. The files which looked terrible as mobi files looked fine when converted to epub files, so clearly it is an issue with the reader and not my file

Yes, I have also found that ePub looks best on the Libre. And you can change justification in Calibre (I personally prefer no justification).

You can adjust the "Page Setup" "Output Profile" each time you do a
conversion. Just click on the Hammer Icon on the left side of the
main page for conversions. You can leave the overall Preferences
setting on the one you have now if you wish.
