How to read Mobipocket eBooks on PRS-300

How can I convert Mobipocket eBooks checked out from my public library to read on the Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-300? I tried the conversion tool in Calibre, but it said the DRM needs to be removed by a third-party application.

No doubt you know that Adobe lending library ebooks work without conversion. Unfortunately, the library has to pay separately for MOBI and Adobe versions. For obvious reasons, most libraries have to choose one or the other.

You use mobidedrm.py to strip the DRM from MOBI ebooks. The required PID is the one you gave your library, e.g. from the Windows Desktop MobiPocket app. Note that in the US, stripping DRM from lending library ebooks probably isn't legal - even if you delete the DRM-free version within the lending period. If you do delete it within the lending period, then you certainly comply with the spirit of the DRM.

Thanks for the info. In many cases my library has one of the Adobe formats as well as Mobipocket, so I'll stick with that.
