I've read about others with the same problem on this forum, and in that case there was some dirt between the border and the screen that pressed on the touchscreen. This caused the touchscreen to think that it's already pressed, and thus won't register any more touches. So check if there's any dirt under the border along the screen.

Of course, it's always possible that the touchscreen is broken, in which case you should contact Sony for a replacement.

You've tried doing a reset?

Maybe try a toothpick to clean the border. There's possibly some dirt under the rim that can't be seen.

worth a try. FWIW you could try doing a reset and recalibrate the touchpad, see if that helps.

BTW be very careful when cleaning, the touch screen "front" is fragile and easily torn if you use something too sharp such as a metal pin.
What you don't want to do is get something else wedged in the gap...
