Okay I bit the bullet and got a nook

So what can I expect from it?

For instance I read that it supports non drm PDB format. How well does it support this? I ask it because I have used this format in the past to create texts from Project Gutenberg. I used the program called DropBook that was given out ages ago when the palm reader format was published by Peanut Press.

Also, I'm just completely stuck on finding an easy way to make Epub files, the Sigil program I'm using just breaks down when I try to open a huge text file like War and Peace, and that book is one of the ones I want to read on my nook when it arrives.

Not only Non-DRM PDBs. You can buy DRMed PDBs from B&N as well. Works perfectly well.

If it can work with DRMed pdb files, can it work with the ones I purchased from ereader.com ?

The nook apparently comes with a free dictionary, any chance of me being able to use the dictionary I used on my palm pilot? It was a pdb or prc file that worked in conjunction with their ereader-pro program.

Welcome to the Nook world!

eBook purchased from eReader.com and created by dropbook display fine on Nook.

Regarding dictionary, so far you can't use other dictionary for either in-book lookup or standalone.

Atlantis word processing is another tool to create epub files, as easy as "save as ebook (epub)", from your existing MS Word documents.

I just bought one myself and even though I love it you can expect sub-optimal battery life :/

Well my previous reader was an REB-1100, so the battery life isn't much of an issue.

What I like is the screen, the glare is minimal and less distracting, the screen text is very sharp.

What I don't like off the bat is that my pdfs are re-flowed, which sucks for my math texts which I wrote in LaTeX, I hope they correct this in the future, as I could easily write LaTeX files to fit the screen dimensions, and I would like to have something like this portable. The only option left I would have would be to convert the file to html, and then convert the html to epub, it would have all the preserved formulas, but it wouldn't as good as a pdf.

Also the device would let me skip to a page number, what's up with that?

yeah, that is kinda annoying, the page number thing. I have no idea why it won't do that. The only thing i can think of is that with epub the number of pages always displays as the same even though it varies based on font size

I'm pretty sure the Nook display's the pdf without reflow if you set the font size to small, but reflows it in any other size.
