My name is Darren and I have been using mobipocket Reader for years. I have an advanced form of muscular dystrophy and use adaptive technology to control my smartphone through an EMG switch. I rely heavily on my Palm Treo 750 and use mobipocket for all my mobile reading.
I am hoping to find some help here on managing my ebook/edoc library. I would like to have a large collection of electronic documents stored and available from my 2 gigabyte mini SD card. However, the larger my library becomes the more unwieldy it is to retrieve books. Is there a way to have separate libraries on my device that can be made active or inactive. Even with the reading list, mobipocket Reader's performance is becoming sluggish, and I suspicion it is because it is having to index so many documents. Your advice would be most appreciated... |

You are right... every time you do a soft reboot on the 750 and then open mobipocket it would take a long time... I had about 700 items on the sd card. So i decided to wipe the card and then just load the books from my pc as I would read them keeping only about 10 books or so on the sd card at a time. I don't know if this would work for you and your needs but it is the solution I came up with

I would really like to take advantage of the storage card memory. I was hoping that someone knew how to have a separate (inactive) library that could be kind of an archive resource within reach from the device. Then I could have the active library be more limited quantity wise.
You are exactly right about the time it takes after a soft reset, though. |

well one possibility and I am not that computer savvy so you might want someone else to confirm this is ok.... connect your treo through sync cable to pc then go to my computer and explore the treo memory.... create a new folder or multiple folders say ebooks1 eboosk2 etc.... then put your books in each of these folders as you see fit... when you want to look at a new set of books you wound have to first rename the folder that mobipocket looks for to say ebooksx and then rename the folder you want mobipocket to go to to ebooks.. i suppose this would work but kind of kludgy in my mind... easier just to transfer books from the pc to treo as you need them and then delete them from treo when not needed....they will always be there on your computer unless you delete them from the pc.. again....I do not consider myself that computer sophisticated so someone else should confirm that this would work and not screw anything up
