Color and Video Coming to Kindle? Partner Shows New Screens

still, i eagerly await the day that A4 sized, full color e-ink devices are affordable. i have amassed several hundred gigs of electronic comics in anticipation

but the important point is that PVI is saying they will start mas production of color displays in the 4th quarter this year. with the way things have been going lately that probably means a delay until the 1 st quarter of next year but still.... its good to hear..

well this could certainly be Kindle 4. maybe 3 but somehow I think there will be some other improvement before they roll this out

I do hope that some of the big players abandon PVI/E-Ink if this is all they're going to manage this year.

This looks more like something that belongs in a cheap generic clone than in a mainstream product. It'll be unfortunate if Mirasol and Liquavista lose out to this.

I guess it's a bit faster though, and with a good controller is close to usable, and probably a bit of a step up from the old Vizplex.

Would be nice if they could pronounce "shenzhen" properly too, but that's asking a lot.

Me, too. I have sold both my kindle1s, leaving me without a backup, and I am intending to get the next generation kindle. Color is a wow factor, but not what I am looking for in an ereader. User changeable battery would be close to the top.

My kindle is purely for reading... The only p-books I've ever seen with colour are reference books with colour pictures... The text is still just black on white.

Most reference books I still prefer to have in paper format.

That's why I am buying an iPad. I don't enjoy sitting at a desk reading comics on my laptop, but the iPad will be perfect for reading them.

As for color, if Amazon releases a color Kindle, I'm buying one as well for a dedicated reader, the iPad will become the comics/apps/internet/movies/tv/games/remote control device.

What does any of this have to do with the Kindle? ALL eInk devices use PVI screens.

its just the limited view of the reporter who wrote the story or their editors.
