Review for W1120
Hello Everyone,
Want to do a quick review on the W1120 I received. Pros, 1. Functionality is good. I love the fact that the Wifi and the Bluetooth device are one. Never gave me a problem with connecting to my wireless router. Didn't have a problem connect to my phone via Bluetooth either. 2. Sturdy stylious. 3. It came with the driver disk(OS reinstall is require due to it being a demo copy of windows installed at purchase). Will work with Linux and other linux based OSs) I've installed Xp tablet Edition and it runs supper fast. 4. As far as internet surfing, I installed Firefox (love this browser) with no problems. Blazing fast. 5. Easy upgrade if desired (ram and HDD only). I switched out the 1gb stick with a 2gb stick. (By the way, the FSB is 800 not 667, meaning you need laptop ram PC6400.) 6. Also there is an open MiniPCI slot for anything wants be added to the device. For those of you who would spend the extra money, you can add extra devices also a SSD(Solid State Drive (these are very expensive) Cons 1. The fan hits against a wire so its a little noisy. Not really loud more like an a annoying sound being made. 2. Even with the fan it can kinda run hot so I wouldn't have it sitting flat on your lap. It wont burn, but you will notice without a doubt. 3. Battery Life is only 2 hours! 4. The camera thats built in is low quality. Its around 1.3MP 5. You have to buy a wall adapter for the plug. Its came with the Euro plug not USA plug. ( not really a big deal since you can get one for 2 dollars, but would have perfered to have been able to use it right out of the box) 6. The graphics card is only running 64MB. For me, I would be rather have more. 7. Video is alright. I've noticed when I would play a HD movie file, you can maximize it, but it starts to slow down and skips sometimes. Regular files played well. The problem with the HD files I'm sure comes from the graphics card not having enough memory. I haven't had the chance to test as a EBook reader, but this device is really no different than a netbook other than it has no physical keyboard. Its running on 1.6 GHZ Atom Intel CPU so that should be more than enough. If anyone has any questions or concerns please let me know. I've been informed by Mr. Lee from Wirelession that they plan inscreasing the quality of the device, i.e.. increased battery life, better quality camera, etc....
